Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ Explained in Mobile, AL
2021 is here, and with it are advancements in fuel-efficiency, technology and safety from Toyota. You can find these enhancements equipped in our latest inventory. Included in these updates in safety innovations is Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+, which takes its six-member fleet of features and amplifies two key components for better processing power and wider functionality in your Toyota. These new enhancements to the renowned safety system come standard in the 2021 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, the 2021 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid. Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+ is anticipated to be more involved with the complete Toyota lineup in future years.
2.5+ Enhancements
What exactly makes 2.5+ better than its predecessors? It builds upon two existing features, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and adds an entirely new level of proactive safety.
An addition to the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Bicyclist Detection senses an oncoming cyclist or pedestrian during the daytime as well as low-light conditions. It will send audio and visual alerts and will even perform automatic braking if needed to stop a collision.
Another new feature for 2021 models, Curve Speed Management is part of the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) feature. It utilizes the camera and yaw sensors (which measure the vehicle's angular velocity) to reduce speed beforehand in the high-tech cruise control system to make taking curves feel more natural to the driver.
